Blizzard Announces their new IP Overwatch

I don’t know about you, but every time a

new First Person Shooter game gets announced these days I cringe at the fact they’re probably another so claimed re-mastered( re-mastering a gun sounds, funny…Phew Phew ) or the usual military shooters which have become pretty much over saturated at this point.

Nevertheless today, Blizzard the company behind the popular Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo series. At BlizzCon reveals their brand new IP and their first entry to First Person shooter genre titled Over watch is surely a breath of fresh air with its sci-fi theme and unique cast of characters.

Being almost 17 years ago when Blizzard revealed their last original IP StarCraft back in 1998.Kind of makes you wonder what they can bring to a market that’s already overly dominated and divided by triple A titles.

Set in technological advanced war torn future. Players will be able to play in two factions in a class based team shooter. Allowing players to choose from a variety characters known as heroes each with their own distinct weapons and abilities to learn and master. Battling it out in a 6v6 PVP game type similar to the popular Team Fortress 2 style of attack and defend, push the cart, capture the flag and so on. While still delivering “Blizzard’s signature easy-to-learn, hard-to-master gameplay to the FPS genre”.

If you ask me, I’d say Overwatch is looking really interesting with its Pixar styled CG trailer. Seriously hope they make a killer single player story with this. Otherwise, a movie accompanying the game would be nice if it’s going to be a PvP only game. With the beta set to release early 2015 can’t help be excited for this.
